English Language Learners and English Language Development Standards
The English Language Learner (ELL) is entitled to equal access of educational programs regardless of the level of English proficiency. An annually updated ELL Student Plan is required for all ELLs currently eligible to receive ESOL services. This plan includes strategies and accommodations required for classroom implementation. Florida has adopted English Language Development (ELD) standards that focus on the development of the English language in all content areas and at different levels of English proficiency. that should be addressed in teacher lesson plans. Please see CPALMS.org for ELD standards, supporting documents, strategies, and examples of academic expectations based on different levels of English proficiency. |
